Hello! My name is Craig Nabat. I am the President of Freedom Laser and a former pack and a half a day smoker. I was finally able to quit smoking after countless failed attempts with the assistance of a one-time, painless, 30-minute low-level laser therapy procedure.
Like half of the American kids in the 1970's, I grew up with at least one parent smoking cigarettes in their childhood home. Growing up with smoke odor constantly lingering throughout the house due to my mother's smoking was an on-going point of contention, not to mention her blood curdling smoker cough that would keep me up at night.
Much of my childhood was marked by a constant concern about losing my mother to smoking at a young age. Her chain smoking, distinctive cough, and raspy smoker's voice were triggering sources of unrelenting worry leaving a lasting emotional impact on me that lasted well into adulthood.
The amount my mom smoked really had a profound effect on me. To this day, when I think back to my childhood, I vividly remember how awful it always felt seeing anyone smoking.
Motivating, or guilting (depending on the day) for my mother to quit smoking became my personal mission. Despite her 50-year nicotine addiction, I'm proud and relieved to report my mother was finally able to quit!
Who would have known smoking would not only emotionally scarred me, but I believe it physically harmed me too. In 1964, there was a landmark Surgeon General report linking smoking cigarettes to dangerous health effects including lung cancer and heart disease. When I was born in 1970, it was relatively unknown the additional affects cigarette smoking had on pregnant women's unborn children.
My mother smoked throughout her pregnancy with me, and most likely caused my facial birth defect known as cleft lip and palate.
Women who smoke during pregnancy are 50 to 78 percent more likely than nonsmokers to give birth to babies with cleft lips or palates, say University of Michigan Health System researchers. Cleft lip and palate are the fourth most common congenital birth defect and affect about one in 700 newborns.
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), women who smoke during pregnancy are more likely to have a baby with an orofacial cleft than women who do not smoke.
Thankfully, I was born to special and loving parents who researched what facial reconstructive operation was available, and found a skilled surgeon who corrected my birth defect within the first month of being born.
I started smoking cigarettes when I was 19, very similar to the 2,500 children under the age of 18 who daily try their first cigarette - Once I started smoking, it took me four years years to shake the addiction...The first time.
After being smokefree for seven years, I relapsed again and became even more hooked. I was 30 years old traveling in Hong Kong on a business trip and went to a bar close to my hotel. Simply to start up a conversation with another patron to learn about this dynamic city, I bummed a cigarette off the only English speaking guy sitting near me. I can think back to that specific day of the feeling being in a foreign country by myself, asking for a cigarette was only a means for me to try and feel more comfortable in this unfamiliar environment. After only one drag off that cigarette, I knew it, damn cigarettes got me again.
I can vividly remember coming home from this Far East business trip and completely disgusting my long-term girlfriend who couldn't believe I went back to smoking after only knowing me as a nonsmoker. I chain-smoked my way through the next 18 months, destroying my health and lacked the desire to lift weights and exercise, which had been a life-long passion of mine since middle school.
I tried everything I knew of at the time to quit during that 18-month period...Will power: failed. Nicotine patches: failed. Nicotine gum: failed.
The Nicotine patch made me anxious, nauseous, and itchy since I spatially smoked while using the popular FDA cleared nicotine replacement therapy product. I also had night terrors where I would wake up in feverish sweats. The gum made me feel queasy often and tasted terrible.
On the verge of giving up on quitting smoking, I heard about a Canadian-based low-level laser therapy procedure that smokers were using to successfully quit. Smokers were breaking their nicotine addiction with one 30-minute laser session. I was skeptical about this virtually unknown international laser treatment, but was now so desperate to quit. I was experiencing horrible stomach ulcers due to smoking so many cigarettes daily. Antacids and the prescription heartburn medicine Zantac became a daily necessity, or my smoking would have been unbearable for my body to take. My body was begging me to quit due to my daily suffering from constant indigestion directly caused by smoking; I drove from my home in Detroit to Canada to try and quit... again.
This low-level laser procedure was based on principles of 5,000-year-old Chinese acupuncture treatments. A pain-free laser was placed on my hands, wrists, face, and ears, which stimulates endorphins (the body's "feel-good" neurochemicals). The main purpose of the procedure is to temporarily alleviate nicotine withdrawal symptoms, making the psychological aspects of quitting easier.
At the time, the holistic Candian based treatment clinic had been performing the low-level laser procedure for nicotine, alcohol, heroin, and alcohol addiction for about 18 years. It absolutely amazed me to immediately walk out of the Canadian based laser therapy clinic and no longer have the desire to smoke. The quit smoking laser therapy procedure is what finally assisted me with quitting smoking. Shortly after quitting, I brought a family member and a girlfriend to this Canadian clinic, and began recommending the laser therapy treatment to smokers I didn't even know. After witnessing firsthand so many smokers quitting using the technology, I became inspired to help more smokers Live Free from Nicotine for good.
George Lucio, the Canadian clinic owner recognized my unique passion for wanting to help smokers quit and offered me a business opportunity. Thereafter, the clinic owner, who I soon learned was one of the world's leading pioneers treating additions using low-level lasers, began mentoring me. I learned the specific psychological principles on how to guide smokers to overcome their addiction. Furthermore, a Detroit-based accomplished acupuncturist provided technical training on how laser therapy promotes healing effects within the body, and she taught me how to effectively perform the low-level laser procedure.
In 2002, I moved from Detroit to Los Angeles to establish Freedom Laser Therapy, which became one of the nation's first solely dedicated quit smoking laser therapy clinics, and one of the most recognized in the United States to this present day.
I've had the unrelenting drive for the past 21 years to develop and improve Freedom Laser's quit smoking procedure. My mind has been on an endless loop of an intense desire to free other smokers seeking to quit. Freedom Laser Therapy went on to treat more than 10,000 smokers in a clinical setting with remarkable quit rates. We had been working for 17 years to develop a home use quit smoking laser device, there has been at least 6 functional production intent prototypes designed in our efforts to bring a high quality laser device to the mass market. Now with the new and perfected home use Freedom Quit Smoking Laser, our team is confident our latest design will fulfill our mission of vastly decreasing the numbers of smokers and vapers in the world.
A life purpose and massive vision was born for me after experiencing quit smoking laser therapy myself. In my mind's eye, I saw quit smoking laser therapy becoming the catalyst for freeing millions of people all over the world from deadly grip of nicotine addiction. I've dedicated my life to doing it, and for as long as I'm on this planet, I will help smokers who desire to Live Free from Nicotine.
"Today makes 10 weeks since I had a cigarette. 10 weeks! I smoked between one and two packs A DAY for over 30 years. One 30-minute session (April 12th) and I’m a free man. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
"I just celebrated 3 years of complete abstinence smoke free. Your treatment helped me do it."
"As of Oct 3, I have been a nonsmoker for 3 years. I smoked 35 years and have quit and tried to quit many times but the is my first successful time. Many people have asked me how I did it and I happily tell them about Freedom Laser and have referred many people. Three of them that I know of have also successfully quit. I will go on telling people how great being a nonsmoker is and that Freedom Laser is the way I achieve it. Thank you again."
On August 16th, I celebrated my fourth-year smoke free. I tried everything else without success. Although I was ready to quit your program was extremely helpful during those first critical days. Thanks again.
I just celebrated 3 years of complete abstinence smoke free. Your treatment helped me do it.
If I recall correctly, I had one appointment with you on August 12, 2006. As of January 12, 2008, I will be 17 months smoke-free. I’ve advised every smoker I know to try your method. Oh, well! Thank you for helping me to become smoke-free.
This month marked my 1 1/2 year anniversary since I had your treatment and ended my addiction to nicotine. I can't believe how much better I feel about myself now. Thank God that I heard a radio ad about your treatment and acted on it. It was the best $495 I ever spent! Once again. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
I quit and four very close people in my life have stopped smoking due to Freedom Laser. Thank you so very much!!!
Thank you Freedom Laser. I haven't smoked since my appointment January 15th. I feel fabulous I have and I am telling everyone I know about your clinic. My father will be scheduling an appointment in the next week or so. I am so impressed with your program that I would love to help market it in some way. Thank you for giving me my life back.
